Okay so this one is quick and easy. A little bit of healthy and a little bit of indulgence to handle that sweet tooth craving.
You will need…
- 3 apples (pick your favourite)
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup warmed heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- rolled oats to garnish
Prepare the apples…
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Celsius. Wash, half and core the apples. Place face up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. In a small bowl combine the nutmeg and cinnamon, sprinkle over the apples. Place apples in the oven and allow to bake until tender. About 10-15 minutes.
Prepare the caramel sauce…
Place large pan over medium heat, and add the granulated sugar. Allow sugar to cook and melt while rotating the pan. As sugar begins to melt use a spatula to stir in remaining sugar. Remove pan from heat and add in melted butter and stir. Add in warm cream and stir until all the sauce is combined. Place pan back onto the heat to finish cooking the sauce for about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add in salt. Mix until combine.
Once apples are baked remove from the oven. Place in a bowl and serve with vanilla ice-cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.
